WE SHOULD INVEST IN OUR SUCCESS!!! 1) KITCHEN MAKE OVER! Toss junk foods such as; processed foods, cookies, cakes, muffins, chips, crackers, sugary snacks/drinks, white oils, hydrogenated oils, fake meat (if shaped in a perfect sphere). Have a friend help you if you are having a hard time tossing the junk out. If you feel bad wasting food make donations to churches or the homeless. Cleaning out the junk helps because if its not readily available you are less likely to eat it. 2) RESTOCK WITH QUALITY FOODS! Such as meats, veggies, nuts, seeds, fruit and berries(when possible organic and pasture raised for meats). Drink plenty of water! 3)TOOLS AND APPLIANCES!. Pot with steamer, Non stick pans, Crock pot (plastic liner will help with fast clean up), blender, juicer, quality chefs knife, large cutting board, spatula, tongs. When using plastic such as tupperware containers or water bottles make sure that they are BPA Free. Tools and appliances make cooking faster and clean up easier. 4) SHOPPING TIPS! Shop the outside perimeter of the grocery store (most of the junk is in the middle). Ask yourself is this good for me (check labels). If you are rationalizing if its good its most likely BAD! Choose spices, coconut oil, frozen veggies/berries, LEAN MEATS- such as fish, chicken, turkey. VEGGIES- kale, collards, spinach to name a few GOOD FAT- fish oil, avocado, flaxseeds, almonds. 5) READING LABELS! Labels are a red flag, good foods don't have labels. Just because it says organic, sugar free, fat free, low carb, high protein, contains real fruit, low fat, no nitrates added does not mean its good for you. Its all about tricky marketing. If you must get food with labels try to keep it under 6 total ingredients. BE AWARE: -Added sugars such as high fructose corn syrup, dextrose, concentrated fruit juice, maltose, evaporated cane juice to name a few. There are many, many different names for sugar. -Hydrogenation/trans fats -Unknown chemicals if you can't pronouce it you probably shouldnt be eating it! SHOPPING TIPS TO SAVE MONEY! (Not optimal though) Higher quality food is better -Buy in bulk; -Buy generic; -Check for sales on your grocery list or coupons; - If affordable buy a whole cow or split with a friend; - Plan meals before shopping. Meal planning is recommended for our busy fast paced lives. Take one day and prepare for the next 3 days. Pack a cooler so you have food on hand and will not be tempted with bad food choices. Try to eat 3-6 meals per day and feel free to share your plates with us! You will not only be eating better but saving money from not eating out. I never said it would be easy but I know all things are possible, we believe in you all! Any questions let us know. Have a blessed day |
